Jessica Roberson

Ms. Roberson is from Peachtree City, Georgia, and she went to college at Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ. She graduated in 2018 with a B.A. in English Literature and a B.A. in Anthropology, with a minor in Justice Studies. Ms. Roberson attended graduate school at the University of West Alabama and earned an M.Ed. in Secondary English Language Arts Education in 2020. She joined the SHS English department in 2018 and is proud to be starting her fifth year here in the 2022-2023 school year. This will be her fourth year teaching 11th grade English, her third year teaching AP English Language and Composition, and her first year teaching AP English Literature and Composition. Ms. Roberson is also the department head for the SHS English department.

Theresa Brown

Ms. Theresa Brown grew up in a small rural town in Selma, Alabama. She is a graduate of Dallas County High School in Plantersville, Alabama.  She received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Concordia College Alabama.  She furthered her education at the University of West Alabama, earning her Masters of Science in Continuing Education with emphasis in Counseling and Psychology, and is currently pursuing her Masters of Divinity at Regent University. Mrs. Brown’s passion for being a servant leader and educator is rooted in her years of experience working with diverse people as a college peer tutor, substitute teacher, college recruiter, academic advisor, college instructor and minster. As a 4th year English teacher at Selma High and 21 years in education, it is her priority to empower young, underprivileged scholars to reach their full potential of achieving academic excellence and passing the torch of empowerment to their fellow peers. Chris Carter

    Mr. Chris Carter, is a Native of Newbern Alabama. Growing up in the heart of the Black Belt, he brings passion and dedication to the Selma City Schools district . Graduating with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in English with a concentration in Journalism lead him to an outstanding 20 year professional sales career in the Jewelry Industry, where he managed 10 years for the Jewelry Industry’s Juggernaut Kay Jewelers.   While still operating as a current Diamond Broker and serving as a Hale County Board of Education Member, we are pleased to have him as our newest Secondary English Language Arts teacher at Selma High

Aiden Blecke

Aidan Blecke is a second year Spanish teacher at Selma High School this year. Born in Michigan and raised in Illinois, in 2017 Mr. Blecke moved to his third midwestern state in order to attend college at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In 2020, Mr. Blecke graduated with dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Spanish and Political Science. In late 2021, Mr. Blecke moved to Alabama and joined the Selma High faculty.
